Payment

Good news – no more payments

If you’ve an outstanding balance on your Provident loan(s), we’ve some good news for you.

We stopped collecting payments at 9.30am on 28th June 2021. Any remaining balance you have after that date is now paid off. There are no more repayments to make to your Agent or Provident. This is because our loans business closes in Ireland on 1st July.

If your loan amount was €500 or more, we’ll update your credit record to show your balance has been cleared. If your loan was less than €500, don’t worry as we didn’t put anything on your credit record when you took the loan.

We have written to all customers to confirm all this. There are also some FAQs here.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us here.

Thanks for being a Provident customer. We really appreciate you coming to us for your loan(s) and for your loyalty.

FAQs

Why aren’t you taking payments anymore?

Our loans business closes on 1st July so we will no longer be trading. We stopped collecting payments at 9.30am on 28th June 2021.

I am due to make a payment, what do I do?

You shouldn’t make a payment to Provident, your Agent or any other individual. You can keep any money you were still due to repay, including the interest.

If someone knocks at your door or calls you saying they are collecting repayments for a Provident loan, don’t give them any money.

Why is Provident closing?

Over the years, we’ve been proud to help people who need a loan and can’t get one elsewhere. However, the tough economic situation resulted in us making the difficult decision to stop providing our loans service.

Will this have a negative impact on my credit file?

No. If your loan amount was €500 or more, we’ll update your credit record to show your balance has been cleared. If your loan was less than €500, don’t worry as we didn’t put anything on your credit record when you took the loan.

I need a loan. Where can get one?

If you need a loan, make sure you borrow from a regulated lender. The Central Bank of Ireland has a register of all authorised lenders: http://registers.centralbank.ie/Home.aspx
